A recent project involved the restoration of a large acoustic double bass. The laminate was peeling, and the bracing inside the guitar was cracked and unattached. We lined the bass with a fiberglass for interior strength, then re-glued the peeling laminate. The end result was a structurally sound instrument that looked great and played wonderfully.

Sometimes, guitar repairs involved electronics. Replacing guitar pick-ups, switches and re-wiring circuits can make a world of difference. We had a customer come in with an Ibanez that hadn’t been played in years. The guitar had been sitting in a closet, and the strings were rusted and broken. We replaced the strings, cleaned the electrics and set-up the guitar. The customer was amazed at how great the guitar sounded and played.

How Long Do Guitar Repairs Take?

The time it takes to repair a guitar depends on the type of repair. A simple string change can be done in a few minutes, while a more complex repair, such as fixing a broken headstock, can take several hours. We always give you an estimate of how long repairs will take when you drop off your instrument.

How can we tell if a guitar is beyond repair?

There are some guitars that are simply too far gone to be repaired. If a guitar is structurally unsound, or the damage is too extensive, it may not be worth repairing. We will always take a look at an instrument and give you our honest opinion on whether or not it can be repaired.
